Google released a fully redesigned version of AdWords Editor that supports several of the bulk editing features that have recently been added to the web interface and introduces new functionality to the desktop tool. This was announced during a livestream hosted by AdWords VP, Jerry Dischler, AdWords Editor’s Product Manager, Geoff Menegay, said AdWords Editor 11.0 “represents the biggest update to the application since we released in 2006″. The new advanced multi-select tool allows you to paste multiple ads or keywords across a combination of campaigns and ad groups at once, rather than posting one-by-one. Parts of Shared library are coming into Editor: bid strategies and site links can be implemented across campaigns and ad groups. (Hopefully, more will come such as negative keyword lists, placement exclusion lists, etc.).
A Google spokesperson has commented that they will be updating the Penguin algorithm continuously, by optimizing it as they go. A Google spokesperson sent us the following statement around our recent questions about the holiday Penguin updates. That last big update is still rolling out — though really there won’t be a particularly distinct end-point to the activity since Penguin is shifting to more continuous updates. The idea is to keep optimizing as we go now. That definitely explains all the reports of Penguin changes we’ve recently been seeing. Which also means that we will likely be covering these updates, even if they are not confirmed by Google, when we feel the change is significant enough to warrant so. Penguin algorithm updates have historically been processed offline and pushed at a specific point in time. Google would process all the Penguin data offline and then pushed the data live, which would produce change in the search results. Now, Google seems to be saying they will change the algorithm within their live ranking processes.
